Hello everyone! My name is Matt Pendergrass and I am super excited to be the assistant principal at Asbury High School. I am married to Meleah Pendergrass. She is a school nurse in a neighboring system. We have three awesome kiddos; our son Caden is six and we have twin three-year- old girls named Ava and Evy. 

I obtained my bachelor’s degree (special education) from Auburn University in 2013. I also have a masters and education specialist degree from the University of West Alabama in instructional leadership. I have 10 years of classroom experience as a special education teacher in grades 6-12. I have also coached football, track and swim in the past. 

I am truly thankful for the warm welcome I have received from school staff, students, parents and community members in my short time at Asbury High School. I love the sense of community our school has in sharing a campus with AES. I look forward to this school year and the many upcoming events we have. My goal is to always be an advocate for our students, staff, families and community.
